About Friends of the Gemeinhaus

RESTORATION ∙ PRESERVATION ∙ EDUCATION

The mission of the Friends of the Gemeinhaus focuses on these three objectives in relation to the structure and the history of the Old Goshenhoppen Gemeinhaus which came into being in 1732. Our endeavors seek the complete restoration of the Old Goshenhoppen Gemeinhaus from its current state to a restored iteration making it accessible for entry by all and safe for public admission without jeopardizing the historical or structural integrity of this 1732 log building of German design.

Through our use of special functions, tours and events, our intent is to continue to raise donations to guarantee the continued maintenance and upkeep of the Gemeinhaus, promising it to a future generation in notable condition.

An emphasis on education will follow, as a natural course, to familiarize the public about the story of our early, German settlers to the now Montgomery County region along with their customs, culture, and idiosyncrasies, through lectures and programs; recognizing how this community impacted the region, the county and added to the American story in the past and to this day.

It is our pledge to pursue these endeavors accurately and with the integrity befitting this historic corner of Upper Salford Township, Pennsylvania.
